Eric Fookes, a Swiss software developer with a unique background in Earth Sciences, is the founder and CEO of Fookes Software Ltd. Established in 1996 and headquartered in the picturesque village of Charmey, Switzerland, Fookes Software has been at the forefront of developing innovative and award-winning software solutions for over two decades.

Eric’s journey in software development began in 1989, when he created his first commercial product—a DOS program that modeled the effects of sea-level change on sedimentary deposits, drawing on his expertise gained from a Master of Sciences in Carbonate Sedimentology from the University of Geneva. This early success led to the development of NoteTab, a programmable text editor that garnered widespread recognition, including the 1998 PC Magazine’s Shareware Awards and the Shareware Industry People’s Choice Award.

Building on the success of NoteTab, Eric expanded Fookes Software’s product line to include Aid4Mail, a powerful email processing tool that has become an industry leader in email collection, culling, conversion, and recovery. Aid4Mail has been trusted by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, law firms, and legal professionals worldwide since its initial release in 2005. The software’s excellence has been recognized with a prestigious European IT and Software Excellence Award.

Aid4Mail’s cutting-edge technology was integrated into Google’s Postini service and currently powers parts of eDiscovery platforms from several industry giants. Aid4Mail Investigator, a specialized version of the software, has been instrumental in helping the US Department of Justice, law firms, and digital forensic experts solve crimes and win litigations. Moreover, Aid4Mail Enterprise generates income for several SaaS companies specializing in email archiving and security.
